Laura Hopman, CIA, CGAP, CGFM, PMP
Assistant Deputy Auditor and Audit Supervisor
Laura has worked in the Office of the District of Columbia Auditor since 2008. As Assistant Deputy Auditor, she supports the Auditor and Deputy Auditor with communication and administrative support within the office. Laura provides leadership to supervisory audit staff and establishes and maintains written audit policies and procedures. Laura also participates in the operational and strategic planning for the office through the development of the annual audit plan, the management of the annual risk assessment of all District government agencies, and the oversight of professional development activities for audit staff.
Previously a management consultant with Grant Thornton LLP, Laura performed program evaluation for the Federal Aviation Administration, United States Geological Survey and several other Federal government agencies. Laura earned her bachelor’s degree from Brown University and a master’s degree in Public Administration from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs of Syracuse University. She is a Certified Internal Auditor, a Certified Government Auditing Professional, a Certified Government Financial Manager, and a Project Management Professional.
